Summer Program Director – Project Discovery

Director of Project Discovery : direct a four-week summer program serving students entering first through sixth grades who need continued instruction in literacy in order to maintain and enhance reading progress made during the school year. Students attend the program from

8:30-noon during the month of July. 

Qualifications: 

Certification as an Elementary Educator and/or Special Educator- K-12 Reading Teacher 

Certifcation preferrred 

Currently employed by the Public Schools of Brookline 

Major Duties: 

Determine curriculum and instructional goals for the program in collaboration with the K-8 

English Language Arts coordinator 

Hire and supervise summer program teachers 

Coordinate and oversee staff and related planning (before the program begins and 

weekly faculty meetings during the program) 

Manage program on-site, 7:30-1pm 

Collaborate with Brookline Recreation and BACE to ensure smooth coordination of 

afternoon services 

Design and implement an assessment and intervention plan for students 

Provide professional development and support around curriculum and instruction to 

teachers in the program 

Distribute end-of-program progress reports on each student to literacy specialists in the 

fall 

Participate in program evaluation in the fall 

Position reports to: The Office of Teaching and Learning

Dates: 

Planning/hiring – March-June 

Program days in 2025 July 6th-31st

Follow-up and reporting 2025 – August-September
