Summer Program Assistant Director/ Interventionist – Project Discovery
Assistant Director/ Interventionist – Project Discovery:
- Work as a lead teacher to help direct a four-week summer program serving students entering first through sixth grades who need
- continued instruction in literacy in order to maintain and enhance reading progress made during the school year. Students attend the program from 8:30-noon during the month of July
Qualifications:
- Certification as an Elementary Educator and/or Special Educator- K-12 Reading Teacher
- Certifcation preferrred
- Currently employed by the Public Schools of Brookline
Major Duties:
- Support the implementation of curriculum and instructional goals for the program in
- collaboration with the Director and the K-8 English Language Arts coordinator
- Help hire and supervise summer program teachers as needed
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing staff and related planning (before the program
- begins and weekly faculty meetings during the program)
- Help manage program on-site, 7:30-1pm
- Work with Brookline Recreation and Brookline Community and Adult Education partners to ensure smooth coordination of afternoon services
- Help design and implement an assessment for students
- Provide small group intervention for students in the programs across all grades as
- needed
- Offer professional development and support around curriculum and instruction to
- teachers in the program
- Participate in program evaluation in the fall
- Position reports to: Program Director- Project Discovery, K-8 English Language Arts Coordinator and the Office of Teaching and Learning

Program days in 2024 – July 6th to July 31st
