Job Description:  The Public Schools of Brookline seeks a Middle School Math Teacher for working at the Florida Ruffin Ridley School.  This is a full-time position.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Demonstrating appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction
• Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning
• Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
• Assessing student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed
• Providing opportunities for academic support and challenge
• Taking responsibility for teaching the district learning expectations as outlined in the curriculum documents
• Demonstrating  an understanding of how knowledge in the subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences
• Keeping  abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s)
• Establishing and maintaining a functional, engaging, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Required Qualifications:

• Knowledge about Middle School philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents
• Strong Math content knowledge
• Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
• A strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy 
• Bachelor's Degree
• Mass. DESE Math certification, 5-8
• SEI endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree
• Experience planning instruction to meet various needs in heterogeneously grouped classrooms
• Multiple subject area licensure
